Ok! You said a mouthful and I appreciate the comment, Chap.
I think this introspective question can be posed everytime we're challenged with a situation that presses us to "be like Christ."
The intrinsic question here is,"To Be What Or Not What?" We can take it a bit further and ask, "To Be Like Who Or Not Like Whom?"
So, when we're faced with challenges that affect weak areas in our lives, I think we're aware of the answers here. But what about the music? From what angle are the artists here attempting to emulate Christ?
Who's the Peacemaker? (Displayed in our Lord's character when dealing with the Samaritan woman; also when dealing with his attackers, one of which Jesus healed his ear after Peter cut it off.)
Who's the rebel with a cause? (Displayed when our Lord opposed the Pharisee and any so-called philosopher during his time.)
Who's the dagger? (Displayed on many occasions when our Lord expressed wisdom so deep even His disciples couldn't understand most of what He taught unless he broke it down. What appeared to be paradoxes to most, was simple Truth to our Lord.)
So, when the artists' within this network compose tracks in the name of the Mighty, from what perspective are you coming from? Is this exemplified within your lyrics, your hooks, your skits?
I'd like additional feedback on this because I think knowing this separates the average rapper from the real deal. Representing different facets of our Lord's being must be heard in Christian rap in order for this culture to remain relevant.
In my personal walk with Christ and what the word tells me are the same to sum it all up in a nut shell.. it's doing what im doing now... the bible says we must be doers of the word not just hearers of the word...... ''to be.. or not ...'' that is a question each christian must ask himself... are we just hearers of the true and living God or we does of his will as well as hearing the word..... let my seed be casted unto fertile ground!
