Do you hate the sin in your life??
This msg is really to encourage us all. We all sin, we all fall short of the Glory of god but does that mean we are any less a Christian? The simple and only answer is NO.
In Romans 7 & 8 God clearly shows us an illustration of how gracious he is.
Rom 7:1-7 Paul writes that by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if he dies she is released from the law of marriage, and visa versa, he then goes on from verse 7 to talk about that same law applying to us before Christ, we were all bound to sin and it's disgusting ways until Christ died that we may belong to another, being God. So now that this amazing transition has taken place and we are no longer bound to sin, why is it that we still sin, Paul writes in Rom 7:15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. So it's clear that sin still has a part in our life, but what part and how do we overcome it? There are 6 very powerful words that I found in rom 8:13 that say, If you live BY the spirit you put to death the misdeeds of your body. So Paul is telling us that it's only the spirit of God within us that gives us the power to say no, to walk away from wrong doing, to say sorry, to forgive, to stop drinking, smoking, taking drugs ect...... the list goes on and on, so instead of beating ourselves up over everything we do wrong we need to pray, and ask the Holy Spirit to help us do what ever it is we need to do, for without him we cannot achieve this. Someone I know said the most profound thing to me recently and it has really made a difference for me, it is “The enemy always wants us to doubt God's character” and how true is that, instead of believing God only wants good for us we think, God must be disappointed in me right now, I keep stuffing up, saying the wrong thing, doing the wrong thing, but the truth is that through the sacrifice of Christ we are the righteousness of God. So it's time to stop beating ourselves up and seeking the holy spirit to make changes in us that we can't possible make.
