Recently my Pastor made me editor-in-chief to the church's newsletter. This means it's my responsibility to express what blessings our Mighty Lord is bestowing upon our ministry. I capture the moments and share them with our readership. Currently we have readers from all over the world. I cannot take credit for that, since the subscribers have been followers before my position here. However, it is my honor to keep these readers enlightened, as well as seek to establish a broader audience.
One of the columns I'm starting is focused on Christian Rap. I love rap. I have a love/hate relationship with secular rap. But I love the essence of the culture. And I love the liberty available for the poet that's ingrained in rap music. And of course, if you're praising God, how can I not love that?
I will keep it simple and remain honest about my intentions. By sending me your best tracks you put yourself in a position to be acknowledged in another online venue. If I pick your project for a review it will mean a few things for your career:
1. I genuinely like your music and will only write an honest piece about you.
2. The review will be read by all subscribers of the newsletter.
3. I will provide info on how you can be reached, just in case a reader wants to follow up.
I think it's obvious how you will assist me by sending in your best work. I am going to troll the web for aspiring artists who are still hungry to express their love for God through rap music. By sending me your best tracks, you help cut down on my research time. This enables me to do what I love doing, listening to good music praising God, and writing about it so others can listen also.
By posting this on CRHH I am giving members a leg up.
For new members who aren't familiar with my blog entries, do yourself a favor and read a few. One of my series is based on reviews. I troll members' page and if I like a track I add it to my playlist, then post an honest review about it.
If you are serious about your career and believe you have a gift in Christian Rap, then email me at jeffreyvickersjr@gmail.com.
And remember 2010 is the year of Bountiful Harvests!
