The Husband and Wife God given responsibilities

Eph 5:22 Wives submit to your husbands as to the lord, for the husband is the head over the wife as Christ is head over the church, his body, of which he is the savior. Now as the Church submits to Christ, as also wives submit to their husbands in everything.

This is a topic i'm sure has made many woman want to look past, as soon as the word submission is mentioned, there is almost an atmospheric change, you can hear a pin drop and hit the floor, but the word submit has never changed meaning, it's just people's view of the word has changed.

Submit means – To give over or yield to the power or authority of another.

We live in a society of independence, so to be in a partnership is hard enough these days, without the pressures of being what you want to be or following your own desires, so add the word submit in there and it is a hard one to swallow. What we need to know and remember is submission is Godly and we have it for a reason. I had an amazing revelation of this perfect picture shown to us through Adam and Eve right at the beginning of time, as I will share.

Once we are married we have tremendous responsibility to our partner, and the other way to. When Adam and Eve ate from the tree they were told not to, there were consequences, but it's interesting to see what these were. Gen 3:16 To the woman he said, “I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing. With pain you will give birth to children............

To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' "Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. 18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food
until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return."

Now even though Eve was the one deceived and the first to eat of the fruit, Adam's punishment was considerably worse. My understanding of this was, God created this structure of man being head over woman for a reason, it brings protection, security, stability and it free's the woman to be the nurturer, home maker, gentle spirited being God created her to be without the concern of being the family provider and protector., Men are born with a natural authority in them that is developed as they grow, but society has tried to push this aside by bringing in equal rights. These days woman want power, respect, to provide for the family, and hear me here, i'm not at all saying that woman shouldn't have dreams, desires, goals, ambitions, or respect, because our dreams, desires and goals are God given also, and respect is important but I'm asking the question of how we go about attaining these things? Is it through a self righteous controlling way that says, it's my right, I deserve it? Or is it through our husbands blessing, Love and support? Do we even think to give them a say these days? This is a touchy subject and I too have struggled with it at times. Eph 5:33 However, each one of you (men) also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband

Love – A profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.

Respect – A condition of being esteemed or honored.

It doesn't say there woman always agree with your husbands, which I think was very clever of God, but as a woman if these instructions are looked upon in a Godly way we see that God is protecting us, you see by not always agreeing, but still submitting to our husbands and the decision they make we are not accountable if they get it wrong, which is great if you ask me, but we do however become accountable if we are disobedient and choose to not submit or respect the decisions made by our husbands. (Providing that what your husband is wanting to do is not contrary to the word of God, but we will look further into this at a later date)

This is why I believe Adam's punishment was far worse that Eve's, he had a responsibility to protect her but instead he submitted to her desire and ate from the tree they were told not to.

I think this is an important illustration to be seen at the very start of the word, God truely know's everything..
